Annual Report 2009-10

Marking ten years of LABS, the 2009–10 Annual Report looks beyond a successful model to ask where it could go next. Its theme, “Diverse Needs, Innovative Responses,” runs through experiments designed for people and settings that conventional training often overlooked. The report follows the early journey of Skilling Rural India, where wage employment, micro-enterprises and improved farming practices were tested as complementary livelihood routes. It also turns to prisons and tribal communities, documenting programmes shaped around distinct barriers, aspirations and labour markets. In education, the same instinct for adaptation appears in bridge centres for migrant children, early childhood initiatives and a special outreach programme at a juvenile home for girls. Alongside these stories are accounts of curriculum redesign, employer engagement and post-placement mentoring. Read it to discover how DRF began adapting its methods not merely to reach more people, but to respond more closely to the realities surrounding them daily.
