Improving Access & Quality of Health Care Services - Health Strategy (2026-2030)
In response to the persistent gaps in rural primary healthcare and to contribute to India’s National Health Mission agenda and Universal Health Coverage priorities, DRF has designed its Health Strategy.
This strategy will serve as a roadmap, directing our efforts towards strengthening public primary healthcare services for rural and underserved communities. DRF acknowledges that healthcare requires action across multiple levels. However, based on our past work in Srikakulam and our understanding of the primary health system, we have decided to invest our time and resources focusing on two core areas – (a) upgrading government Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to improve the accessibility and quality of comprehensive primary care services, and (b) strengthening NCD screening, community outreach, and district-level health systems through techno-managerial support, enabling long-term, government-owned change.
In the strategy paper, we have deep-dived into the following areas: (a) Our Work in the area of Health, (b) Evolution of DRF’s Health Interventions, (c) Health Status in India, (d) Primary Health Care System – Challenges and Opportunities, (e) DRF Healthcare Strategy, (f) Principles, Priorities and Components, (g) Building Partnership, (h) Sustaining Change, (i) System Engagement for Replication and Scale, and (j) Envisioned Impact.
