Ensuring Equal Partnership
At Dr Reddy’s Foundation we believe that when you educate girls and empower women we take big strides towards sustainable development. Our Grow Program have supported enthusiastic girls to steer away from child marriages and take up careers. Today many of them apart from being self-sufficient and confident young adults support their families and siblings economically.
Similarly our special economic empowerment activities for women and practical training for farmers through our vocational training programs have encouraged several young women to step forward and take charge of their small land holdings and get better yields after understanding about land preparation and soil fertility management or crop diversification.
In line with our focus on women’s welfare and needs, we are also planning to expand to include nutrition in our work soon as we believe that with a little help and guidance women will be able to take better care of their family’s health.
HSI – Healthy Snacks Initiative
The initiative is an effort to address and responds to the gap in the availability of reasonably priced nutritious snacks for children in rural and semi urban areas. Through market based solutions, snacks will be produced and marketed through women entrepreneur network. Rural and semi-urban women entrepreneurs will be trained and skilled to build establish and operate self-owned local food businesses. The project will skill women in food entrepreneurship by helping them transferring technology, guiding them to procuring suitable machinery and raw material, build skills in marketing, provide financial linkages, establish women entrepreneur networks and increase knowledge on child’s nutritional needs.
