Dr Reddy’s Foundation (DRF) is a not-for-profit organization set up in 1996 to enable socially and economically vulnerable groups to take control of their lives. We develop and test innovative solutions to address complex social problems and leverage partnerships to promote scaling up of impact. We work with Children, Youth (including Persons with Disabilities) Women and Households across 20 States in India.
Recent reports suggest that over 41% of school-going children cannot read or write and 64% of adolescent girls drop out before grade-8. At DRF, we are working on increasing access to quality education and improving learning outcomes, especially in rural and economically backward communities.
While 178 million youth in India remain unskilled and unemployed, 53% jobs on the other hand are lying vacant with employers unable to find the right people with the right skills. At DRF, we have designed cutting-edge skilling programs for youth, including the physically disabled, based on years of industry research and experience to match the aspirations of the youth and make them job-ready.
Despite agriculture’s crucial role in the country’s socioeconomic growth, over 70% of 100 million small and marginal farmers have no access to agri-extension services. Similarly, potential entrepreneurs, especially women, in rural India lack support systems to build and scale their businesses. At DRF, we empower rural entrepreneurs and farmers with access to technology, support systems and knowledge.
We believe that empowering “changemakers” with the right tools and knowledge is key to creating lasting social change. Our program to build the managerial and leadership skills of first-level public health leaders, as well as, our Leadership Development Program to address the talent deficit in the social sector, are significant endeavors in this direction.
