THE PROBLEM

Anusha who suffers from hearing impairment is one of the victims of gender biases coupled with discrimination against persons with disability depriving them their basic right to work.

In this age, Assistive technology can enable & empower women with disability to get an equal opportunity in terms of career. But like Anusha, many do not have access to assistive technology and hence are deprived of such opportunity of decent job & life of dignity.

Success Story

Shilpa, today works.

However, life hasn’t been easy for her. There were many roadblocks that she had to overcome. She had lost her hearing senses in her early age and her childhood was lost in silence.

Braving against all odds, she didn’t give up on her dream of working and supporting her family. She learned sign language to communicate – but that too didn’t help much when it came to discussions, preparing for classes. Her world was still silent.

Her life changed with the help of assistive technology. Armed with the power to listen and with her skills and hard work, soon rose to a position where she could financially support her family.
