Power of Endurance

Star Bazaar’s outlet in Seasons Mall of Pune, is abuzz with activity on a Monday afternoon. A quick glimpse towards the billing counter shows a line of happy and helpful cashiers serving their customers promptly. One among them is Krishna Sudam Somoshe, a cheerful, sincere and hard-working cashier who refuses to sit despite his aching polio-leg.

Krishna an aspirant of GROW – Chandan Nagar, Pune is now working as a cashier in Star Bazaar. Gratitude and the desire to make the most out of this employment opportunity are clearly evident in Krishna’s demeanour.

He is a self-made man in the truest sense. Hailing from a small village called Parbhani in Nanded district of Maharashtra; Krishna’s is a farming family of seven which struggled to make ends meet. His father’s demise in 2008 was a jolt to the family and soon he realized that education was a luxury his family could not afford. Krishna then, started working several odd-jobs to fund his education. He went on to complete his B.A in 2016 while continuing to work which not only made him independent but enabled him to support his family with his income.

Krishna is now a valued employee at Star Bazaar. His moment of pride was when his supervisor appreciated him for his 100% error-free performance. “It is these moments that make the pain worthwhile”, says a content Krishna.
